For the last few months i have been sharing a room with our electronics engineer, it has not been that easy when you are both wintering and your shift patterns don't gel! We have our own rooms during the winter, but during the summer season when occupancy is at maximum we have to share.
The last couple of weeks has been quite nice, as my roomie has been in the field working on electronic equipment. However, I have now been given my own room which will be for my winter and the following summer season. I moved in approximately a week ago and have now got it just how i want it. I am in room 5 at the north end of Admirals which is the posh end, this is where the station leader and pilots stay. My window overlooks the runway with views of the ramp, reptile ridge, south cove and leone Island and even better views if you put your head out of the window and look north and south.
Most people move to the runway side of Admirals during the winter as the snow build up is not as much on that side, with less digging to clear the windows.

Here are a few images of my room and what i have seen from my window so far
North end of Admirals
Room 5 at the posh end
All rooms are the same
The desk
Cupboard with drawers
Bathroom
Twin Otter approaching runway from the north
No wind
Nose down and gently does it
Skis raised and wheels down
Touchdown
A perfect landing as the Otter passes the Dash 7
preparing for take off
She comes to a halt and starts to turn
Turns to face the camera, looking straight at my room
Taxi back to the Hanger
Meanwhile the Dash 7 getting ready to fly 15 people
to Punta on their journey back home
Passengers for the Dash, passing Admirals for the
last time this season, their work is done. See you
next season guys, safe flight home
The moon resting on the ice, gorgeous colours
at night
Hazel on night shift duties, walking to the Bonner
Lab on her nightly checks. She is wearing black
in the middle of the picture
Looking over to the Islands across south cove
draped in a yellow sky
The view with my head out of the window, It doesn't
get much better
I can definitely get used to these views.
I love my new room, it's not a bad place to be.
